Biography

Dora Siemel was born in Corumba, Matto Grosso, Brazil

Dora's sculpture medium is clay. She has her own studio in Green Lane, Pennsylvania. All her pieces are hand built and fired to between cone 4 and cone 6. The colors come from any combination of glazes, oxides, paints and waxes.

Since each piece is made individually, no two are exactly alike. She does, however, make "families" that have the same general characteristics.

Her work has been accepted at various juried shows including the Norristown Art League, the Woodmere Art Museum and the Phillips Mill Art Show and has won numerous local awards.

Dora had a two-woman show with her daughter, Edith Malin, at the Multiple Choice Gallery at the Montgomery County Community College located in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. She has also had a show with painter Robert Stack at PARADOX in Fairville, Pennsylvania..

In addition to being a sculptor, Dora is a computer consultant, a martial artist and a yoga instructor. She is a published poet who sings, writes songs and plays the guitar.
